A little over a year ago, golf wasn't really my thing.
I played with my dad and his friends when I was younger, but it was always casual and I never took it seriously.
Twenty years later, Ray had been trying to get me out on the course with him.
He's the golfer.
He's the one who knows the terminology, studies the game, watches videos, works on his swing, and genuinely loves the game of golf.
Me?
I was the guy standing at the driving range wondering why the ball never seemed to go where I wanted it to.
But somewhere along the way, something changed.
I started taking it a little more seriously.
A trip to the range became another trip to the range.
One round turned into a few more.
I started paying attention to what I was doing wrong, what I was doing right, and why one swing felt completely different from the next.
And that's when I discovered what millions of golfers already know.
Golf is incredibly rewarding while also being incredibly frustrating.
One day you'll hit shots that make you think you've finally figured it out.
The next day you'll wonder if you've ever held a golf club before.
You'll watch videos.
You'll take advice.
You'll work on your grip, your stance, your backswing, your tempo, your weight transfer, and about twenty other things that somehow all need to work together at the exact same time.
You can spend an hour at the range feeling great and then struggle the next time you play.
As someone whose big into self improvement, golf has a way of pulling you in.
There's always another level. Another adjustment. Another challenge.
The more time Ray and I spent around the game, the more we realized that almost every golfer is dealing with some version of the same struggle.
They're trying to get better.
Not necessarily become professionals.
Not necessarily shooting under par.
We all want the same thing which is just to get better and hit the ball where you want it to go more consistently.
Feel more confident standing over it.
Enjoy the game more.
We've spent plenty of time at driving ranges, on golf courses, and more recently in simulators.
The more time we've spent trying to improve our own games, the more we've seen how difficult that process can be.
Golf asks a lot from you.
It requires patience and it requires repetition.
It asks you to keep showing up even when it feels like you're not making progress.
But when something finally clicks, even for a moment, it's one of the best feelings in sports.
That's a big reason Daddyshack exists.
Yes, we sell golf products with a focus on golf simulators.
But the bigger mission is helping golfers improve with a little less frustration and a lot more confidence.
Because we've been there and honestly, I am still there.
Ray brings years of experience and knowledge of the game.
He understands the mechanics, the fundamentals, and all the little details that separate a good swing from a great one.
But even Ray is constantly improving and trying to swing better than the day before.
I bring the perspective of someone who is still actively working through the process.
Still learning. Still improving. Still chasing consistency every time I step onto the course.
Between the two of us, we understand both sides of the journey.
We know how intimidating golf can feel when you're starting out and we know how easy it is to get discouraged as well as how rewarding it feels when your hard work finally starts showing up in your game.
Our goal is simple.
Whether it's a training aid, a simulator, or another product that helps golfers practice more effectively, we want Daddyshack to be a place that helps people enjoy golf more and play with greater confidence.
At the end of the day, that's what most golfers are really chasing.
Not perfection.
Just the confidence to step onto the first tee knowing they're a little better than they were the last time.
We're still chasing that too.
We just wanted to create a community to chase that together.
Welcome to Daddyshack.
